Submission to the exhibition ‘Touch point’, hosted by the Reframe Institute of Art and Expression, India, that invited artists to explore the concept of ‘touch’ amidst a global pandemic.
In this artwork, Rodin’s iconic sculpture ‘La catedral’, was transformed, to depict ‘touch’ as an artefact preserved in a museum. A fragile entity, of immense value, distant and unattainable. The idea was to portray how ‘touch’, once a crucial part of everyday life, had now been reduced to a precious relic, to be admired, from a distance.
